SubGenius Wikia Clench

A cabal is a group of people united in some close design together, usually to promote their private views or interests in a church, state, or other community, often by intrigue, usually unbeknownst to persons outside their group. Cabals are sometimes secret societies composed of a few designing persons, and at other times are manifestations of emergent behavior in society or governance on the part of a community of persons who have well established public affiliation or kinship. The term can also be used to refer to the designs of such persons or to the practical consequences of their emergent behavior, and also holds a general meaning of intrigue and conspiracy. The use of this term usually carries strong connotations of shadowy corners, back rooms and insidious influence.

The term is frequently used in conspiracy theories; some SubGenius conspiracy theories describe the Pinks as an internationalist secret cabal, and according to the Grand Unified Conspiracy Theory Of Everything (G.U.C.T.O.E.), there is one single C.O.N.S.P.I.R.A.C.Y. run by Pinks which is the largest cabal of them all and controls everything in the entire universe as well as all parallel universes, nonparallel universes, and things that don't even dwell within universes in the first place.

In the context of Discordianism, a cabal is equivalent to a SubGenius clench, that is, it's a local (or nonlocal) group of one or more Discordian Popes (or AntiPopes) with (or without) similar (or dissimilar) interests, pursuing (or avoiding) the same (or different) goals.

In the context of the video game Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun's Firestorm expansion pack, CABAL is a hyperintelligent AI used by Nod and designed by Kane (the immortal son of Adam and Eve who killed his brother Abel) which attempts to use cyborgs, robots, and drones to exterminate the entire human race. So the CABAL from that game has similar intentions to the X-ists and would be a natural ally for SubGenii in carrying out the events of X-Day and creating the prophesied Hell on Earth if it existed in the real world.
