Because of continuing problems with vandalism and hostility, IPs and brand new members to subgenius.wikia.com cannot edit this page.
A decision was made on October 15, 2015, one week from the original posting
There's been a lot of confusion about rules here including Rule #2 of SubGenius_Wikia_Clench:About. I think this is because it has been taken out of context of Rule #1. And while Rule #3 is correct in context of Wikia's Terms of Use, it could be misconstrued on its own. (And please check the link for Rule #0).
RULE #1) Don't use the official Conspiracy name of any SubGenius unless that's the name they go by in the Church of the SubGenius. Instead, use people's proper SubGenius names. That helps protect people's privacy.
- This rule makes a clear division: people's proper SubGenius name vs. people's Conspiracy name/ privacy. Please looks at Rule #2 in that context.
RULE #2) If a SubGenius wants information about them taken down off this wiki to protect their privacy (for instance, a certain photo or video or piece of information, or maybe if they are paranoid, everything about them), we can and will do that for them. If an amiable Pink who isn't a complete asshole makes a similar request, we can probably fit that in too.
- This rule deals with protecting privacy. As shown in Rule #1, that means their Conspiracy (legal, publicly identifiable name, the name on their birth certificate/driver's license/ etc.)
RULE #3) Don't insult individual SubGenii or try to create drama about conflicts between SubGenii. No drama, and no insults against any dues-paying members. Of course it is fine to insult "Bob" or Connie, just not any SubGenius who actually exists.
- Again, this is technically OK if Wikia's ToU is taken into account. But talk of defamation has come up, and insults that violate for non-dues-paying members are not covered by this rule.
There is also the issue of whether or not membership is forever or for a limited period of time, and verification of those records. If membership was current last month, is it current next month? Or if we put up an insult about a non card-carrying member yesterday but they joined the Church today, who is responsible for making a daily--or hourly--check of the membership status of everyone mentioned on this website?
I also am not comfortable with the statement that "Bob" and Connie do not exist. Is this site saying the Church is all a made-up joke, or are we writing this from true belief (or at least the appearance of true belief)?
Proposed changes[]
Therefore, I propose the following changes both for clarification and to help insure Wikia's polices and U.S. laws are being followed (additions are in bold, subtractions are in strikeout):
RULE #1) Don't use the official Conspiracy name of any SubGenius unless that's the name they go by in the Church of the SubGenius, or they approve it, or that information is already easily accessible elsewhere. Instead, use people's proper SubGenius names. That helps protect people's privacy.
RULE #2) If a SubGenius wants information about them taken down off this wiki to protect their personal privacy (for instance, a certain photo or video or piece of information, or maybe, if they are paranoid, everything about their Conspiracy identity and about its connection with their SubGenius identity unless that information is already easily accessible elsewhere them), we can and will likely do that for them. If an amiable Pink who isn't a complete asshole makes a similar request, we can probably fit that in too. But we do follow the principle of freedom of the press.
RULE #3) Don't insult individual SubGenii or try to create drama about conflicts between SubGenii. No insulting, unnecessary drama., and no insults against any dues-paying members. Of course it is fine to insult "Bob" or Connie, just not any SubGenius who actually exists.
Who decides[]
I prefer to decide things by consensus. However, as finding a consensus here is not currently working, I want to decide by vote. However, I'd like comments first. If there are changes to the above that are generally agreed to, I'd prefer those changes be made first rather than having more than one vote.
If there is no significant disagreement to the above in the next week, it will be considered site policy and SubGenius_Wikia_Clench:About will be changed accordingly.

Comments[]
COMMENT. I think it's great. But I have a couple little suggestions. "for instance, a certain photo or video or piece of information, or maybe if they are paranoid, everything" maybe could be "for instance, a photo or video or piece of information, or, if they are paranoid, everything." - I struck the "certain" and bolded a comma after maybe. But I'd much prefer to keep the maybe of the original. Pope Hilde (talk) 15:10, October 9, 2015 (UTC)
- I'm interpreting your comment of "I think it's great" as a For. Pope Hilde (talk) 17:12, October 15, 2015 (UTC)
OPPOSED Naturally, I oppose the changes to undermine the SubGenius character of the site. An adopter came in, has acted against the nature of site, and then decide the best course of action is to redefine the nature to match their ends sought. That is not adoption, it is hijacking. Jzp-wikia (talk) 13:37, October 11, 2015 (UTC)
- The underminers who did nothing but complain and insult and troll and vandalize haven't posted in a few days. Maybe they got bored and left.
- Why do you think Hilde acted against the nature of this site?
- I'm sorry but you're wrong about how adoption works on Wikia. Adopting a website is like adopting a child. You don't have to raise it the way its birth parents did. Its yours. As long as you don't break the law/Wikia's policies, you can do what you want with it. Miley Spears Discordian American Princess to the Stars (let's talk) 02:38, October 12, 2015 (UTC)
- What parts are you opposed to? What are you reasons? Could you give specifics? I'd like to know. :) Miley Spears Discordian American Princess to the Stars (let's talk) 03:07, October 12, 2015 (UTC)
FOR. Pope Hilde (talk) 17:10, October 15, 2015 (UTC)
- The decision was to accept the changes.
