Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption is a spinoff cult of the Church of the SubGenius.
The church was established on August 16, 2015, by televangelist and sneaky SubGenius John Oliver. It did follow true SubGenius principles, as even though it was strictly for-profit, it received legally recognized acceptance as a religion in the United States of America.
The church was criticized for stealing the SubGenius principle of "send me your money." It also followed in the tradition of profit pastors such as Kenneth Copeland and Robert Tilton, who use television broadcasts of Christian church services for private gain.
