A sockpuppet (SubGenius) is a SubGenius-sockpuppeteer-controlled SubSubGenius puppet. Sockpuppets are authorized to perform the sacred rituals of the Church of the SubGenius. And thus to confound the Anti-"Bob", the Pinks, and the Conspiracy.
Upon being awarded membership, SubGeniuses typically take on a sockpuppet name for their membership, although this is not required.
In the Beginning[]
When the Church of the SubGenius was founded in the 1950s, many if not all of the founding members used fictitious names. This practice continued in the Church Revival of 1979-1980. To officially use a SubGenius Sock Puppet Name, one must be a card-carrying member of the Church.
